The journey up the A6 or the M61 is quick and direct, and patients tell us the short drive is well worth it for the quality of care they receive. You can book online or get in touch with the team to arrange your first appointment.

Why Bolton patients choose NV Physiotherapy

Bolton has no shortage of clinics, so why do so many people make the trip to Chorley? The answer we hear most often is simple: results. Every patient is assessed properly, given an honest explanation of what is going on, and treated with a plan built around their own body, goals and lifestyle.

The team here at NV Physio believe in targeting the cause, not merely the symptoms. That means we spend time understanding why your pain started and what is keeping it going, whether that is the way you move, the load you are placing on a joint, or a weakness that has developed over time. Treatment is hands-on where it needs to be, backed up by exercise and advice you can use between appointments, so that improvements last well beyond the treatment room.

Sports massage for Bolton patients

Alongside physiotherapy, we offer sports massage in Chorley that is popular with Bolton runners, cyclists, gym-goers and team sport players, as well as people whose muscles are tight from desk work or a physically demanding job. Sports massage is a deep, targeted soft tissue treatment that eases muscle tension, improves flexibility and speeds up recovery between training sessions.
Bolton patients often combine a sports massage with their physiotherapy, using it to keep tissues supple while rehabilitation work rebuilds strength. Others book it on its own as part of their regular training routine, particularly in the build-up to events such as the Bolton 10K, the Manchester Marathon or an Ironman. Sessions are available in 30 and 60 minute appointments and can be booked online without a referral.

If you are new to sports massage, our blog answers the two questions we hear most: how often you should have a sports massage and how long to rest afterwards.

Your first appointment

Your first visit is an initial assessment lasting around 45 minutes. Your physiotherapist will listen to your history, examine how you move and identify the source of the problem. Treatment usually begins in that same session, and you will leave with a clear explanation, a personalised plan and a realistic idea of how many appointments you are likely to need. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being treated; shorts are ideal for hip, knee and ankle problems, and a vest top works well for shoulders and necks.

Our Chorley clinic is purpose designed and fully on the ground floor, with a calm, comfortable waiting area and two private treatment rooms, so there are no stairs to worry about if you are arriving with a painful hip, knee or back.

I cannot recommend Emma highly enough! From the moment I walked in, I was immediately impressed by their professionalism and expertise. I’ve had my share of sports-related aches and pains, but after just one session with Emma, I felt a remarkable difference. They took the time to listen to my concerns and worked with me to target specific areas of tension. Their knowledge of the body and technique was evident as they expertly worked through tight muscles and knots, using just the right amount of pressure to relieve pain while also promoting relaxation. It’s clear that Emma is incredibly skilled and truly passionate about helping people heal and perform at their best.Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a professional athlete, I highly recommend booking a session. You’ll leave feeling refreshed, restored, and ready to take on anything!

After a recent fall I was really suffering with tendonitis in my fingers. A few sessions with Nathan and movement and pain dramatically eased. I'll carry on with the exercises I was given. Thank you Nathan

I’ve have been attending appointments with Nathan to work on my neck which was extremely tight and causing me alot of pain and discomfort. From the first appointment, my neck pain instantly felt better and knew that Nathan would be able to help me. I attended a few more appointments and in between them I managed to do my exercises that Nathan had demonstrated and gave me to do.Nathan was professional from start to finish, he’s extremely knowledgeable in his field of work and I felt so relaxed with him.My neck is so much better and I’ve found I’ve got so much more movement in it. I’d highly recommend anyone to book an appointment with Nathan.Thank you Nathan, keep up the fantastic work that you’re doing. I really can’t thank you enough!!

After struggling to walk for over a month with sciatica pain I popped into see Nathan. After the first session I could tell the difference. I'd previously been to chiropractors who had only made the problem worse so I was sceptical before I saw Nathan. He assured me he would have me back up and walking in no time and he did. I couldn't recommend NV Physiotherapy enough. Thanks again Nathan 👍

I was referred to Nathan by my health insurer. I had a great experience from start to finish. He knows his stuff and shows genuine care. He assessed my symptoms and the underlying causes of my pain and now I’m pain free and have been for a number of weeks. Would highly recommend!
